JC KinderCare Facility to Spearhead Broome County Universal Childcare Pilot Program
A new KinderCare facility is under construction at Oakdale Commons in Johnson City, New York, and will be a key component of Broome County's Universal Childcare pilot program. A recent news conference at the construction site announced that enrollment for the facility is now open. The $5 million childcare center is fully funded by the state and is designed to offer 200 childcare slots for children ranging from six months old through pre-kindergarten. Broome County Executive Jason Garnar stated that county employees will have priority access to these slots before they become available to the general public. The facility is anticipated to open in the spring, coinciding with the statewide launch of the Universal Childcare pilot program. Broome County is one of three counties in New York State selected to participate in this initiative, which aims to enhance the affordability and accessibility of childcare services.
