GAO Calls for Detailed Plans in Commerce Department's Semiconductor R
The Government Accountability Office (GAO) has recommended that the Department of Commerce develop detailed plans and timelines for its semiconductor research and development programs. This recommendation comes after the GAO found that key programs had been canceled, paused, or lacked clear implementation schedules. The Department of Commerce has funded 49 semiconductor projects involving 24 companies, with $13.1 billion released so far. However, the GAO report highlights the need for more structured planning to meet statutory requirements and ensure the effective use of allocated funds.
