Edwin H. Hoenie Passes Away at 81, Leaves Legacy in Welding Industry
Edwin H. Hoenie, Jr., aged 81, passed away on July 30, 2026, at Vancrest Nursing Home in St. Marys, Ohio. Born on October 23, 1944, in Celina, Ohio, he was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin H. Hoenie, Sr., and A. Janette (Wright) Hoenie. Edwin is survived by his wife, Connie S. (Reed) Hoenie, whom he married on October 10, 1987, and their three children, Shyla M. (Hoenie) Houser, Kelly J. (Jason) Brickner, and Joshua M. (Cicely) Muntzinger. He also leaves behind four sisters, six grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Edwin was a retired employee of Crown Equipment Corp, where he was the first plant manager of the Celina plant and played a significant role in developing the company's robotic welding program. He was a member of the American Welding Society and worked part-time at St. Marys Chrysler after his retirement. Edwin was known for his love of fishing, hunting, gardening, and traveling with his wife.
