Over 92,000 Illinois Residents Drop Obamacare Amid Rising Costs
In Illinois, more than 92,000 consumers have lost or dropped their Affordable Care Act (ACA) health insurance plans following the expiration of tax credits that previously helped reduce costs. Initially, 448,568 residents enrolled in plans through the state's exchange, Get Covered Illinois, during the open enrollment period. However, as new, higher bills arrived, a significant number of consumers disenrolled. Morgan Winters, director of Get Covered Illinois, noted this as the largest drop in nearly a decade, raising concerns about the affordability of health insurance.
