Flash Floods Disrupt New York and New Jersey After Torrential Rain
On Saturday, New York City and New Jersey experienced severe flash flooding due to torrential rain and thunderstorms. The heavy downpour caused significant disruptions, flooding subway stations and city streets across New York and the Tri-State area, which includes Connecticut. Many drivers were forced to abandon their vehicles as water levels rose rapidly. Social media videos captured scenes of people wading through knee-deep water and emergency services rescuing stranded individuals. The extreme weather also led to the cancellation of several local events, including a Yankees-Dodgers baseball game in the Bronx, and disrupted flights on the eve of the World Cup final in New Jersey.
