AI Simulations Aid Teachers in Navigating Challenging Parent Meetings
Teachers at Elam Alexander Academy in Bibbs County, Georgia, are utilizing AI simulations to better handle challenging parent-teacher meetings. Brandon Lovett, a teacher and education therapist, has found these simulations particularly beneficial. The AI-based simulations, developed by the nonprofit Branch Alliance for Educator Diversity (BranchED), allow teachers to practice engaging with virtual parent avatars that respond in real-time. These simulations are part of the Emerging Educators pilot program, which supports new teachers transitioning from non-education fields. The program aims to improve teachers' confidence and effectiveness in communicating with parents, especially in difficult situations. Teachers participate in virtual sessions and debrief with mentors to refine their skills.
