This figure is based on the ability to cover essential bills without stress, save for retirement and emergencies, and have discretionary funds for leisure activities. The study highlights that the baseline salary in Arizona ranks 23rd highest in the nation, with Hawaii topping the list at $135,000. Despite the high cost of living, the median household income in Arizona is just shy of $80,000, indicating a gap between actual earnings and the amount needed for a comfortable lifestyle. The study suggests a budgeting strategy where 50% of income goes towards essentials, 20% towards savings, and 30% for discretionary spending.
