Hotels Transition to Sustainable Key Cards to Reduce Environmental Impact
Hotels are increasingly replacing traditional plastic key cards with more sustainable materials such as wood, PLA (polylactic acid), and plant-based leather. This shift aims to enhance guest experiences while significantly reducing environmental impact. These new materials offer a tactile and aesthetically pleasing alternative to the conventional plastic cards, which are a staple in the hospitality industry. Wooden key cards, for instance, provide a unique texture and natural grain, making each card distinct. PLA cards, derived from renewable resources like cornstarch, are lightweight and available in vibrant colors, adding a playful element to the guest experience. Plant-based leather cards offer a premium feel, elevating the perception of a simple utility item.
