Vanderbilt University Develops AI Agent to Enhance Alzheimer's Treatment Referrals
Researchers at Vanderbilt University Medical Center are developing a Teams AI agent aimed at improving the referral process for Alzheimer's disease-modifying therapies. The project, supported by a $600,000 grant from Eli Lilly and Company, involves analyzing healthcare data from over 5,300 patients to identify delays in the treatment pathway. The AI agent is designed to streamline referrals by organizing information within the hospital's electronic health record and Microsoft Teams platform. While the technology is still under evaluation, it is intended to support clinicians in preparing referrals more efficiently without altering clinical decision-making processes.
