Children’s Author Marsha Wilson Chall Passes Away at 72
Marsha Wilson Chall, a beloved children's author and writing instructor, passed away on March 29 in Maple Grove, Minnesota, at the age of 72. Chall was known for her evocative picture book texts inspired by childhood memories. She grew up in Des Moines, Iowa, and discovered her passion for writing early on. Chall studied English literature at Drake University and later earned a BS in education. She taught reading and literacy before turning to children's literature, publishing her first picture book in 1992. Chall continued to teach writing workshops and college courses, influencing many students and fellow authors throughout her career.
