Australia Warns of H5N1 Bird Flu Spread After Mass Mortality Event
Australia has issued a warning about the potential spread of H5N1 bird flu following the country's first mass mortality event among seabirds. Agriculture Minister Julie Collins confirmed that testing identified H5N1 in a group of dead and sick terns off the coast south of Adelaide. Although there is no evidence of the virus on Australian farms, many have implemented lockdown measures to protect poultry flocks.
