Mass Evacuations in Madrid and Ávila Due to Wildfires
A severe wildfire in the Sierra Oeste of Madrid and eastern Ávila has led to the evacuation of approximately 88,000 people. The Unified Military Emergencies (UME) command is prioritizing human safety as the fire threatens multiple municipalities. Evacuated areas in Madrid include Robledo de Chavela, Fresnedillas de la Oliva, and Villa del Prado, among others. In Ávila, partial evacuations and confinements are occurring in towns like Burgohondo and El Tiemblo. Authorities are conducting preventive evacuations as the situation evolves rapidly.
