UN Women Launches 2026 Asia-Pacific WEPs Awards to Promote Gender Equality in Cambodia
UN Women has initiated the application process for the 2026 Asia-Pacific Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Awards, marking Cambodia's first participation in this regional initiative. The awards aim to recognize private sector leadership in gender equality, with applications open until June 30, 2026. The WEPs framework, developed by UN Women and the UN Global Compact, guides businesses in enhancing gender responsiveness. The awards have gained traction, with over 2,000 applications from more than 1,000 organizations across 20 countries in previous cycles. The 2026 awards will honor businesses in six categories, including Leadership Commitment and Gender-Inclusive Workplace, and introduce Special Mention recognitions for Youth Leadership and Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion. Cambodia joins other nations in the national awards process, with ceremonies scheduled for October and November 2026, leading to a regional ceremony in December.
