LAPD Discovers Large Stash of Fireworks During South Los Angeles Search Warrant Operation
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) uncovered a significant quantity of fireworks during a search warrant operation at a residence in South Los Angeles. The operation was initially unrelated to fireworks, as officers were investigating a domestic violence incident involving a firearm at a home on East 85th Street. Deputy Chief Marc Reina reported that the fireworks, valued at over $200,000, were found in every room of the house, packed in their original consumer-grade packaging. Although consumer-grade fireworks are legal in some jurisdictions, they are prohibited in Los Angeles. The discovery led to evacuations in the surrounding area, which were expected to be lifted by early afternoon. The suspect involved in the domestic violence case was arrested, but their identity has not been disclosed. Other occupants of the home were detained, though it remains unclear if they will face charges.
