CoCoGraph AI Model Revolutionizes Molecular Generation with Chemistry Compliance
Researchers from Universitat Rovira i Virgili have developed CoCoGraph, an AI model capable of generating molecules that adhere to the rules of chemistry. Published in Nature Machine Intelligence, the model uses a diffusion technique to create realistic synthetic molecules, similar to generative AI tools for text and images. CoCoGraph begins with a real molecule, breaks its bonds, and then reconstructs it, ensuring chemical validity by maintaining the correct number of bonds. The model is more efficient, requiring fewer parameters and less computing power. It has shown superior performance in generating chemically realistic molecules compared to other models, although it cannot yet design molecules with specific functions.
