DC-Area Volunteers Raise Funds for Ukraine War Effort with Truck Donation
Residents in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, including Bethesda, Maryland, are actively fundraising to send a specially equipped truck to Ukraine as part of the '50 States for Ukraine' grassroots campaign. Jeffrey Bloch, a Bethesda resident, is leading Maryland's efforts, aiming to raise $13,000 for a vehicle to be used by a Ukrainian military unit. The funds collected through the '50 States for Ukraine' initiative are channeled to 'Car for Ukraine,' an organization responsible for purchasing, modifying, and delivering these vehicles. According to the fundraising website, neighboring D.C. and Virginia have already successfully raised enough money to fund multiple vehicles. Bloch emphasized that these are smaller, non-military vehicles not typically covered by government aid packages but are urgently needed on the ground for various logistical and humanitarian tasks.
