The storm led to the cancellation of a performance by Italian EDM artist Anyma due to safety concerns. Dust storms are increasingly recognized as a major environmental hazard, with a recent study estimating their economic impact at over $154 billion in the U.S. in 2017. These events are comparable to natural disasters in terms of costs, affecting health, agriculture, and renewable energy generation.
