Iowa Youth Institute Engages Over 365 Students in Global Food Security Efforts
The 15th Iowa Youth Institute, hosted by the World Food Prize Foundation at Iowa State University, welcomed over 365 students to explore global challenges related to hunger, agriculture, and food security. Participants prepared Global Challenge Research Papers on food security issues in various countries and presented solutions in discussions with scientists, industry professionals, and academic leaders. The event featured remarks from notable figures such as Tom Vilsack, CEO of the World Food Prize Foundation, and Mashal Husain, its President. The institute aims to connect students with leaders in science, agriculture, and global development through presentations, roundtable discussions, and interactive campus experiences. The program, established 15 years ago with support from former Iowa Governor Terry Branstad, has become a leading pipeline for developing future agricultural and food security leaders.
