Louisiana Funeral Honors Eight Children Killed in Mass Shooting
A funeral service was held at Summer Grove Baptist Church in Shreveport, Louisiana, to honor eight children who were victims of a mass shooting on April 19. The tragic event involved seven siblings and their cousin, who were shot by their father, Shamar Elkins, using an assault-style weapon. The service featured a procession of mourners, music performances, and tributes to the children, who ranged in age from 3 to 11. Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in memory of the victims. The service was attended by faith leaders, politicians, and community members, including former U.S. Rep. Gabby Giffords.
