A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 struck off the southern island of Mindanao in the Philippines, causing significant structural damage and triggering tsunami alerts across Asia. The quake led to the collapse of buildings, including a three-story structure housing a Jollibee restaurant in General Santos City.
