Hofstra Law Establishes $2 Million Institute for Legal Technology Innovation in Hempstead
The Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in Hempstead has launched the Institute for Legal Technology & Innovation. This new institute, supported by $2 million in philanthropic funding, including a $1 million donation from Hofstra Law alumnus Samuel Ramos, aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration between law and technology. The institute will focus on preparing future legal professionals for the evolving landscape of the legal field, with a particular emphasis on emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain technology, and digital assets. Its mission includes enhancing technological literacy among students, conducting interdisciplinary research, and addressing legal and societal challenges related to these advancements. The initiative is designed to provide students with practical experience and insights into how technology is reshaping legal practice and access to justice.
