Texas GOP Condemns Bo French's Racist Post, Few Withdraw Support
Texas Republican Bo French is facing widespread condemnation, including from within his own party, for a recent social media post. French shared a picture of mostly South Asian University of Texas at Austin students celebrating a football victory, with a caption suggesting that the scene showed 'how many Americans have been displaced by foreigners.' While many Republicans, including Rep. Jeff Leach and House Speaker Dustin Burrows, have called his comments racist and urged him to delete the post, few have rescinded their endorsements or committed to voting against him. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick has remained silent. Only Karl Rove and U.S. Sen. John Cornyn have publicly stated they will not vote for French, with Rove indicating he would vote for French's Democratic opponent and Cornyn considering leaving the ballot blank.
