Monty Roberts, Renowned Horse Trainer, Passes Away at 91
Monty Roberts, an internationally acclaimed horse trainer known for his gentle approach to training horses, has died at the age of 91. Roberts, who was born in Salinas, California, developed a method called 'join up,' which relied on understanding and using the non-verbal language of horses rather than traditional methods of breaking them through intimidation and pain. His approach gained international recognition when Queen Elizabeth II invited him to work with her horses in 1989, leading to a long-lasting friendship and the publication of his memoir, 'The Man Who Listens To Horses.' Roberts' techniques have been influential in the horse training community, and he has trained thousands of horses, including wild and problem horses. His work has been documented in the 2023 film 'The Cowboy And The Queen.'
