New Jersey Secures $42 Million for Worship Security Amid Rising Threats
New Jersey has secured over $42 million in federal funding to enhance security at houses of worship, amid rising threats to religious institutions. The funding, announced by Rep. Josh Gottheimer, will be used for security upgrades such as surveillance cameras, reinforced doors, and security personnel at synagogues, churches, mosques, and religious schools. This initiative comes in response to a series of incidents targeting faith communities, including bomb threats and bias-related attacks. The funding aims to protect worshippers and strengthen public safety across the state.
