USDA Announces Major Reorganization to Enhance Support for American Farmers
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced a significant reorganization of its Research, Education, and Economics (REE) Mission Area to improve efficiency and better serve American farmers. This restructuring aims to streamline operations, strengthen leadership accountability, and position resources closer to agricultural communities. The reorganization is guided by principles such as reducing organizational complexity and leveraging emerging technologies. Key changes include relocating certain positions from the National Capital Region to other parts of the country, including Kansas City and St. Louis, to bring research closer to stakeholders. The Agricultural Research Service will also decommission the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center, redistributing its programs to better align with regional needs.
