Nigeria Advances Security with Airbus Hub and Apache Helicopters
Nigeria is set to enhance its aviation and security capabilities through a new agreement with Airbus. The Nigerian government plans to host a maintenance and hangar hub for Airbus, alongside fast-tracking the delivery of three Apache attack helicopters from Boeing. This initiative is part of Nigeria's broader counterterrorism efforts. The agreement was reached following a meeting between Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Airbus' Head of Regional Business Growth for Africa and the Middle East, Thierry Cloutet, at the Africa CEO Forum in Kigali, Rwanda. President Tinubu emphasized the urgent need for modern helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft to address the country's security challenges. Additionally, Nigeria is considering acquiring the Airbus C-295, a tactical military transport aircraft, to further bolster its military capabilities.
