Missouri Man's Pet Dove Sets Record for Oldest Living Dove in Captivity
A dove named Sugar, residing in Chesterfield, Missouri, has been recognized by Guinness World Records as the oldest living dove in captivity, reaching an age of 44 years and 72 days. Sugar's owner, Dewayne Orender, has cared for the bird since its birth in 1981. The dove has more than doubled the typical life expectancy for its species, surpassing the previous record holder by over 15 years. Orender, a veteran of the music industry, shares a close bond with Sugar, who is known to enjoy music and television shows. The bird's longevity and unique personality have made it a beloved pet and a record-breaking phenomenon.
