IDB and Jeju Province Partner to Enhance Tourism and Energy Governance in Latin America and the Caribbean
The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and Jeju Province of the Republic of Korea have formalized a partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance tourism systems and energy sector governance in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). This collaboration aims to leverage Jeju's expertise in technology, institutional capacity, and sustainability to address development challenges in the LAC region. The agreement focuses on knowledge exchange, exploring practical projects, and adapting proven experiences to local conditions. Key areas of cooperation include the application of artificial intelligence and data analytics for smarter tourism management, and strengthening regulatory frameworks and institutional capacity in the energy sector. The partnership acknowledges that local conditions vary significantly, emphasizing the adaptation of ideas rather than direct transfer of models.
