Iconic Texas Troll Sculpture Destroyed in Mysterious Fire
An iconic troll sculpture, known as 'Malin's Fountain,' was destroyed in a fire at Pease Park in Austin, Texas, on May 21. The 18-foot-tall wooden sculpture was created by Danish artist Thomas Dambo and was the only Texas installation among over 100 troll artworks he has crafted worldwide. The sculpture was built with the help of 150 Austin volunteers using reclaimed wood and cedar roots. The cause of the fire is under investigation, with arson investigators involved. Dambo expressed his heartbreak over the loss, noting the community's involvement in the creation of the sculpture and its role in feeding animals during Austin's hot months.
