U.S. Department of Transportation Awards Nearly $12 Million to Enhance Small Community Air Service
The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has allocated nearly $12 million in grants to 14 communities across the nation through its Small Community Air Service Development Program (SCASDP). This federal initiative aims to improve or expand commercial air service in smaller communities by providing funding for various projects, including revenue guarantees, marketing campaigns, startup costs for new routes, and air service studies. Out of 60 applications received from 32 states and territories, 14 projects were selected. Most of the awarded communities plan to utilize these grants for revenue guarantees, which are designed to mitigate financial risks for airlines launching new routes.
