Fire Danger Rises in Central, Eastern Oregon Amid Storms
A Red Flag Warning remains in effect for central and eastern Oregon, including areas near Baker City and Burns, until 8 p.m. Thursday. Thunderstorms are bringing frequent lightning and gusty outflow winds, which could rapidly spread new or existing fires. The storms are fueled by a low-pressure system over northern California, drawing moisture into the region. Areas west of the Cascades, such as Portland and the Willamette Valley, are experiencing quieter weather, with the active conditions concentrated east of the mountain range. Thunderstorm activity is expected to decrease later in the evening as the system moves out of the area.
