U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Recalls Nearly 200,000 Travel Steamers Due to Burn Hazard
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of nearly 200,000 travel steamers due to a significant burn hazard. The recall affects approximately 119,000 PurSteam Mighty Lil Steamers and 75,400 PurSteam Elite Travel Steamers. These products, sold on platforms like Amazon and Walmart, have been reported to expel hot water from the steam nozzle during use, posing a serious risk of burns to consumers. Since December 2020, there have been 80 reports of hot water expulsion from the PurSteam Elite Travel Steamer model PS-510, resulting in 14 burn injuries. Similarly, the PurSteam Mighty Lil Steamer model PS-550 has had 392 reports of hot water expulsion, with 40 resulting in burn injuries.
