Australia Demands Valve Address Extreme-Right Communities on Steam
The Australian government's eSafety Commissioner has issued a transparency notice to Valve, demanding explanations on how the company is addressing extreme-right communities reportedly active on its Steam platform. Valve faces potential fines of up to AU$825,000 per day if it fails to comply. The notice is part of a broader initiative targeting several gaming platforms, including Roblox, Microsoft, and Epic Games, which have been accused of hosting extremist content. The eSafety Commissioner has highlighted concerns about grooming, terrorist-themed gameplay, and recreations of violent events on these platforms.
