Moderna Launches First Human Trial for Bundibugyo Ebola Vaccine
Moderna has initiated the first human clinical trial of its mRNA-1469 vaccine, designed to protect against the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola virus. This trial marks a significant step in addressing a strain of Ebola for which no approved vaccine currently exists. The Phase 1 trial will evaluate the vaccine's safety, side effects, and ability to elicit an immune response in approximately 84 healthy adults aged 18-65 in Canada. The vaccine uses Moderna's mRNA platform, previously successful in COVID-19 vaccine development, to target the Bundibugyo Ebola virus.
