American Heart Association and NFL Award Grant to Silver Spring School to Boost Student Health
Dr. Charles R. Drew Elementary School in Silver Spring, Maryland, has been awarded an NFL PLAY 60 Active Recess Grant by the American Heart Association and the National Football League (NFL). The grant, amounting to $500, is part of a broader initiative to promote physical activity among children. This funding is part of the second round of grants from a $350,000 annual pool provided by the NFL through its PLAY 60 campaign. The initiative aims to encourage children to engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity daily, aligning with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans. The grant will support the school in enhancing physical activity opportunities, including equipment for physical education, FLAG football, and recess enhancements.
