Coachella Valley Mayors Summit Addresses Regional Economic and Infrastructure Priorities
The Coachella Valley Mayors, County, and Tribal Chairpersons Luncheon was held at the Renaissance Indian Wells Resort & Spa in Indian Wells, bringing together all nine Coachella Valley mayors, Riverside County leadership, and tribal chairpersons. The agenda focused on business regulations, tax policy, and economic development. Hosted by the Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce, the event's format was reworked to prioritize direct panel discussions over sponsor remarks, aiming for more substantive conversations on regional priorities. Key infrastructure projects discussed included the Coachella Valley Rail project, a proposed 144-mile passenger line connecting Los Angeles to Indio and Coachella, and the CV Link, an active transportation network. Tourism's economic impact was also a central theme, with Palm Springs International Airport alone generating $2.5 billion in economic output and supporting over 18,000 jobs in Fiscal Year 2024.
