Trump Administration Sued Over Non-Disclosure of Caribbean Boat Strike Records
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR), and the New York Civil Liberties Union have filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration. The lawsuit demands the release of an Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) opinion and other documents related to lethal strikes on civilian boats in international waters. These strikes, described as targeting 'narco-trafficking' vessels, have been carried out by the U.S. military. The complaint, filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, argues that previous Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests have not been honored. The groups claim that the public deserves to know the legal justification for these strikes, which they argue violate domestic and international law.
