Valparaiso University's New President Brian Konkol Sees Enrollment and Donations Rise
Valparaiso University has welcomed Rev. Brian Konkol as its 20th president, who has been in the role for over six months. Under his leadership, the university is experiencing a positive shift in both enrollment and donations. Konkol, who previously served at Syracuse University, has been actively engaging with the university community and local leaders. He has focused on enhancing the university's mission as a Lutheran institution and improving communication between the faculty, administration, and board. The university has faced challenges in recent years, including declining enrollment and financial difficulties exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, recent data shows an 80% increase in fundraising and a rise in undergraduate enrollment deposits for the first time in a decade.
