He claimed to have ended an 'electric mandate' that would have required widespread EV adoption. Despite his remarks, the Department of Energy reports over 250,000 public charging ports nationwide. Trump's comments come amid a cooling demand for EVs, which held a 5.8% market share in the second quarter. The decline in demand is partly attributed to the end of the $7,500 federal EV tax credit.
