APEC Hotel Development Pipeline Expands with 2,506 Projects, India Leads Growth
The Asia-Pacific excluding China (APEC) region has seen a significant increase in hotel development, reaching 2,506 projects and 452,972 rooms by the end of the second quarter of 2026. This represents a 17% increase in projects and an 11% rise in rooms compared to the previous year. India leads the region with the largest national pipeline, boasting 1,033 projects and 137,601 rooms, marking a 36% increase in projects and a 39% rise in room count from the previous year. Other countries with notable pipelines include Vietnam, Japan, Indonesia, and Thailand. The region's hotel construction pipeline includes various segments, with luxury and upscale developments showing significant growth. The forecast for 2027 and 2028 includes hundreds of new hotel openings, indicating continued expansion in the hospitality sector.
