OpenAI Settles Discrimination Claims, Agrees to $3.2 Million Payment
OpenAI has agreed to pay $3.2 million to settle claims of discrimination against U.S. workers, as announced by the Justice Department. The settlement addresses allegations that OpenAI favored foreign workers on temporary visas over U.S. citizens in its hiring practices. The DOJ investigation found that OpenAI and its subsidiary, Statsig Inc., engaged in practices that discouraged U.S. applicants, such as advertising jobs late at night and requiring paper applications. As part of the settlement, OpenAI will pay civil penalties, create a back-pay fund for affected workers, and implement changes to its hiring practices.
