Peruvian Air Force Acquires Fifth C-27J Spartan Aircraft to Enhance Air Mobility
The Peruvian Air Force (Fuerza Aérea del Perú: FAP) has ordered its fifth C-27J Spartan aircraft from Leonardo, as part of its air mobility enhancement program. This acquisition is aimed at addressing Peru's complex geography and challenging terrain, facilitating access to remote areas. The aircraft, expected to be delivered to the FAP's Grupo 8 in 2027, marks the 100th C-27J sold worldwide. The new aircraft will feature the 'Next Generation configuration,' which includes updated avionics and aerodynamic enhancements. The C-27J Spartan is a multi-role tactical airlifter used for transport, airdrop, rescue, disaster relief, and firefighting missions. Since 2015, the FAP has utilized the C-27J for nearly 16,000 flight hours, conducting 600 medevac missions and transporting approximately 240,000 people and 9,000 tons of cargo.
