Cruise Ship Accident in Vienna Injures 14 Passengers, Investigation Underway
A river cruise ship named Anna Katharina collided with a lock wall on the Danube River in Vienna early Friday morning. The incident occurred at the Freudenau power plant, with approximately 200 passengers and crew members on board. The collision resulted in light injuries to 14 individuals, who experienced back, neck, and chest pain. Emergency services, including the local fire department, responded promptly, using ladder trucks to assist in evacuating passengers from the vessel's deck. Six of the injured were taken to a hospital for further evaluation. The remaining passengers were transferred to another river cruise vessel to continue their journey. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation, with authorities considering the possibility of a technical defect.
