Federal Agencies Enhance Compliance Training to Combat Workplace Discrimination
Federal agencies are intensifying their compliance training programs to address workplace discrimination more effectively. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has set new standards requiring recurring training cycles, moving beyond one-time awareness sessions. This shift is in response to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) enforcement precedents and aims to ensure that federal employees are well-versed in recognizing and addressing various forms of discrimination, including quid pro quo harassment, hostile work environments, and retaliation. The training programs are designed to be comprehensive, covering all federally protected categories and including manager-specific modules to address the distinct legal duties of supervisors. The goal is to create a documented, auditable program that withstands EEOC scrutiny and reduces complaint rates.
