LSU AgCenter Hosts Organic Farming Workshop for Sustainable Agriculture Education
The LSU AgCenter, in collaboration with the Grow Louisiana Beginning Farmer Training Program and the Louisiana Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Professional Development Program, is organizing the 2026 Organic Farming Workshop. Scheduled for April 17 and 18, the event will take place on the LSU main campus in Baton Rouge. The workshop will feature Daniel Parson from Oxford College Farm at Emory University, who will provide an in-depth exploration of sustainable practices tailored for small- and medium-scale horticulture farmers. Attendees will learn about various aspects of organic farming, including soil fertility, crop rotation, cover crops, marketing strategies, pest and weed management, and necessary equipment and infrastructure. Additionally, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency will offer insights into programs and services available for beginning farmers during a lunch session on Friday.
