Australian Mother Gives Birth to Rare Identical Quadruplets, Defying Medical Odds
Jenitar Na’amoana, a 34-year-old mother from Brisbane, Australia, has given birth to a rare set of identical quadruplets. The birth, which occurred at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, is a medical rarity, with such occurrences estimated at 1 in 15 million pregnancies. The quadruplets, all girls, were delivered via cesarean section at 28 weeks and four days. Despite the high-risk nature of the pregnancy, Na’amoana and her husband were surprised to learn they were expecting quadruplets without the aid of fertility treatments. The babies are currently in the neonatal intensive care unit, where they are expected to remain for several weeks as they continue to grow stronger.
