Rain and Lightning Shorten Indy 500 Practice Session
A practice session for the 2026 Indianapolis 500 was cut short due to rain and lightning, according to FOX Sports. The session, which was intended to allow drivers to prepare for Race Day, lasted only 35 minutes. Despite the shortened timeframe, all 33 drivers managed to complete a total of 1,053 laps. The session was marked by a three-car incident involving Pato O’Ward, Alex Palou, and Romain Grosjean, though no injuries were reported. The weather interruptions followed a weekend of intense activity, including 'Fast Friday' practice and Sunday qualifying. The next scheduled event is the final practice, known as Miller Lite Carb Day, set for Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET.
