Voluntary Water Restrictions Lifted in Richmond and Surrounding Areas
The city of Richmond, along with Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, and Powhatan counties, has lifted voluntary water restrictions. This decision follows an increase in the James River's flow, surpassing conservation triggers as outlined in Richmond's James River Regional Flow Management Plan. The water supply in Richmond is partially dependent on water from western regions, and recent rainfall in the mountains and along the I-81 corridor has contributed to improved river levels. Officials will continue to monitor conditions and may reissue conservation measures if necessary.
