Mayor of London Announces £1.5m Investment for Youth Safety Initiatives at Tottenham Hotspur
The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has announced a £1.5 million funding boost through the Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) to support diversionary activities aimed at keeping young people safe during the summer. The announcement was made at Tottenham Hotspur's Training Centre in Enfield, where the annual Godwin Lawson memorial tournament was being held. The Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, in collaboration with the Godwin Lawson Foundation, has been organizing this tournament for 15 years to honor Godwin Lawson, a young footballer who lost his life to knife crime in 2010. The funding will support a range of activities, including sports, mentoring, and employability programs, to engage young people and reduce their risk of involvement in violence.
