Uncertainty Surrounds Funding for Pathways Carbon Capture Project
The Pathways carbon capture project, now known as the Oil Sands Alliance, faces uncertainty regarding its funding. Initially announced in 2022, the project aims to capture and store CO2 emissions from Alberta's oilsands. Despite agreements between the federal and Alberta governments and major oil companies, questions remain about who will finance the project. The federal government has committed to investment tax credits and further financial support, but the project's viability is challenged by low carbon credit prices in Alberta.
